When the files are grouped by date, even though the files are sorted by types, they are still grouped by dates. The easiest way to fix the issue is to ungroup the files by deselecting the Date Modified option. First, open the File Explorer and go the Downloads folder. You can click on the Downloads option under Quick Access.
That is it. As soon as you select None, the files will be ungrouped date wise and default to whatever view the Downloads folder is set to. This is certainly not a in any way more working fix than using the context menu.
Other apps that show the file explorer also show groups in the download folder. Thank you. Remember you should change the group sort only from the Explorer Ribbon not from right click options. Another useless change by the mentally challenged over at Microsoft. Why did they think disabling the option to change the grouping was a good idea? I just switched to Linux myself. Setting the Group By option of Downloads in File Explorer worked fine for me, however the Save As dialogue window keeps displaying the Downloads grouped by date.
Is there any registry edit that could stop this? Usual crap from redmond sorry to say that. They always think they know it better than the user. Perhaps MS telemetry data picked up on that. Anyway, the Group By makes since for a lot of users. Or they can easily see the last item s deleted to recover them. If I want to se the latest deletes or downloads, i click on the modified column for sorting. Thank you! Fixing this and being able to delete the Xbox app are the relief after 3 hours and 40 minutes waiting for this to download and install.
I came across a similar problem in the screenshots folder. The download folder view appears to behave as it should. The display is grouped by time and I cannot find a way to change. Any ideas? Thank you very much for these tips. When I try the grouping it mixes everything up. Have you find a solution for this? Same problem. Report abuse. Details required :. Cancel Submit. Shawn Brink MVP. Did you want "Group by" set to " None " instead? How satisfied are you with this reply?
